Conservatives took corporate contributions

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

The Conservative Party has stepped on stage and has stolen the spotlight for illegal contributes of monies donated to their party. The Conservatives charged $750 per representative from professionals, lobbyists groups and other outside associations to attend for observation. The Conservatives should be held responsible for letting these contributions from not being reported to the governmental agency, Elections Canada.

“For such fees, the registration form also noted that payment could be made using corporate credit cards and corporate cheques.”

In 2004, political parties were banned from accepting contributions from corporate donations. The rundown is, these contributions were illegal, and the Conservatives broke the law. I do hope that the Liberal Party approaches the Elections Commissioner to file a complaint.

For shame

Maple Leaf Politics [MLP] posted an entry with a poll attached and asked the following question, “If the Liberal Leadership Race was today, who would you vote for?” MLP however was feeling exclusive in this poll in excluding Mr. Dion from his ballot.

MLP included a poor reasoning behind his exclusive decision to leave Stéphane out of his latest poll on the leadership,

“Well the Dion supporters have made my weekly Sunday poll such a farce, I removed him from tis weeks [sic] poll.”

MLP more then likely is disappointed that the candidate for leadership didn’t get enough attention in their last poll. However, accordingly to Cerberus’ Liberal Leadership Blogger Endorsement, MLP hasn’t openly supported for a candidate on their blog.

MLP continued to say,

“It was a pure case of ballot stuffing and I’m sorry, if you are that desperate to make it look like your candidate has that much support out there, then you don’t need my little poll to screw around with.”

MLP, I am going to say this slowly for you to understand, Dion’s campaign is not falling behind of the others, and it’s the largest growing and the biggest across the country. I think you are terribly mistaken for Hedy Fry, Ashley MacIssac, and Joe Volpe. Apparently it is a crime for people to be supporters of Dion. For shame. In response of MLP’s entry, I voted for Ashley MacIssac in protest.

Ok. This is it.

Military Tribunal for Terrorism

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

The United States Supreme Court of Justice has given the Bush Administration limited power on trying ‘enemy combatants’ who are currently being detained at the infamous military imprisonment base, Gitmo.

“The military commission at issue is not expressly authorized by any congressional act,” said Justice John Paul Stevens, writing for the majority. The tribunals, he said, “must be understood to incorporate at least the barest of those trial protections that have been recognized by customary international law.”

The United States of America withdrew their commitments to the International Court of Justice in 1986 after violating international law against Nicaragua. Therefore the US reserves to place ‘enemy combatants’ on trial for crimes against their nation unjustly due to the circumstances that they will not be treated to a fair trial therefore should be placed on trial at the ICJ. Though, there has to be revisions on both sides since none have clauses to try terrorists.
