Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I highly recommend watching this movie if you are concerned about climate change. Al Gore, Jr. does a great job at tackling over the lies on damaging to the American automobile manufacturers and industries across the country. Buy or rent it. It is a must have watched.

Unrelated to politics, current events, humour, maintenance or oddities. I am considering about enlisting in the Canadian Forces.

Stephen Harper has speed up the separatist movement in Quebec by declaring the Quebecois as a nation within a United Canada and has caused a constitutional headache. Quebec’s notorious head separatist, Gilles Duceppe plans to amend the motion introduced by the Prime Minister to define Quebec as a nation without conditions. The country has returned to the crossroads of Quebec separation yet again thanks to the Prime Minister.

Gilles expressed strong words about the Prime Minister’s actions taken yesterday:

“The prime minister clumsily tried to pull the wool over the public’s eyes with his motion,” said Duceppe, who opened debate on his motion Thursday. “When he attaches that condition, we see through it as a partisan tactic.”

Quebec cannot be boiled down to one of two options: a nation within a united Canada, or a separate, sovereign nation, said Duceppe.

“Never should the existence of the Quebec nation be subjected to what your preferred option is.

“I hope the prime minister will recognize the Quebec nation. Period,” he said. “I hope elected officials will take a stand on the issue without any strings.”

Quebec is a distinct societal differences from the rest of the country and define it within the constitution; whether it’ll diffuse the quest for Quebec’s sovereignty or nationhood within a United Canada is questionable, federalism is important and is vital the future of our country.

The Great Divorce; Same-Sex Style

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

A married same sex couple is filing for divorce in Rhode Island; they were married in Massachusetts’ after the aforementioned states’ Supreme Court ruled in favour of same-sex marriage because prohibiting same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Same Sex Marriage’s (SSM) legality is in question since they have no laws in favour or against it. An Attorney representing one of the spouses stated:

“Now the ultimate question is whether the state will recognize or determine whether it has jurisdiction to handle an out-of-state divorce when we don’t have any case law that accepts or rejects same-sex marriage.”

I do not know much about Divorce Law in the United States; however, I believe there should be a federal jurisdictions that allows married couples to file for divorce in another state and the same should go for SSM and civil unions. Divorce Law in the United States needs to be more progressive to the demanding and changing society, it goes against the freedom of movement.

I also believe it is essential for the United States to pass the Equal Rights Amendment and being inclusive of sexual orientation. Prohibiting SSM at the federal level is unconstitutional.

Don Brash’s resignation

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Since a friend of mine from New Zealand mostly recently gave me honourary Kiwi citizenship, I believe that I have the goddamn right to turn blue faced while ranting about their politics which should contribute a lot to their democratic process. Donnie Brash has stepped down from being the National Party’s top leadership position due to heated speculative rumours about his private life.

To make things worst a book is being published by Nicky Hager that contains private emails Mr. Brash distributed during the last election, however Brash made it clear that the book is not apart of his reasoning to step down. It is sad to see Mr. Brash step aside and they may have someone to replace him already, John Key. Donnie will remain in the House of Representatives to continue to serve his constituents, the good peoples of New Zealand. I do hope he does, New Zealand still acquires his assistance to oust Helen Clark’s Labourites.

I believe New Zealand’s National Party should investigate into the leak and run those over those responsible for the leakage contributed to the defamatory and shit disturbing non fiction piece written by Nicky Hager. Nicky Hager is a shit disturber, and we all know I hate them.

Quebec a nation? No.

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Prime Minister Stephen Harper made a controversial statement today relative towards Quebec’s statehood in Canada. Stephen Harper said:

“Our position is clear. Do the Québécois form a nation within Canada? The answer is yes. Do the Québécois form an independent nation? The answer is no and the answer will always be no.”

I completely disagree. Quebec is a distinct society within Canada. Canada is ten provinces, three territories not two nations as one country. This is the step Canada should have taken! The Meech Lake Accord’s defeat only put more wood onto the fire, which threatens unity across this country.

Please watch the following You Tube video I found on my friend’s Braeden Caley’s blog, it’s powerful and it’s the truth.

Comedy in the House

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Steve (Stephen Harper) and Bill (Graham) have brought fashion television to CPAC! The Prime Minister was in Hanoi, Vietnam for official business relative to APEC who wore the traditional Vietnamese silk dress along with other world leaders respectively. Graham during Question Period told the Prime Minister he, “looked spectacular” in the dress.

Steve-oh replied to Bill saying, “Unlike Graham, I wear silk on the outside.” All I can say to that is OOOUCCHH!!!

Bill said he certainly has many embarrassing pictures of himself as the ones of Harper in Hanoi. Harper assured the House that he’ll influence the media to keep Graham’s pictures from being released. *sigh* I never knew the Harper-bot was programmed to be funny. Maybe a newer model has been released?

Your moment of zen.

Foreign Spies; Beware

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

The Canadian Security & Intelligence Service [CSIS] has made a request to the court in Montreal to deport the Russian spy who was apprehended at Pierre Elliot Trudeau airport last week by Border Security Officers. The spy goes by the name of “Paul William Hampel” who has ‘operated’ in Canada for over a decade.

When the Border Security Officers apprehended “Paul”, they discovered $7,800 in mix currencies, several cell phones and a shortwave radio on his person. CSIS has labeled “Mr. Hampel” has a major risk to Canadian national security. It is known that “Paul” has carried out operations in Canada and abroad. CSIS has filed a report to the federal courts that his missions could possibly be espionage due to the Russian Federations’ failing economy.

I do not think we should deport foreign spies to their country of origin. They should be imprisoned in maximum security detention centre in solitary confinement indefinitely.

Interesting . . .

Monday, November 20th, 2006

On December 22, 2006 a massive anti-war demonstration has been planned. I find it quite awkward. A couple in San Francisco believe demonstrators should remain at home and have an orgasm being focused on world peace. This is out of this world, and the female’s orgasm is only fictional . . .

iDion

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Stéphane Dion is the top contender in the leadership race with one week remaining until the convention is in full swing. Dion has shown his dedication and commitment to both Liberals and Canadians everywhere. Stéphane is friendly, approachable, genuine, intelligent, funny, honest and trustworthy - all important qualities combined together, which makes a great leader. A leader that Canadians and Liberals want to lead the country into it’s next frontier, the future. Dion is the only contender who has established a vision for Canada, a vision that has major support across the country.

Stéphane won all three of the official party debates and played all his cards against Ignatieff, Rae and Kennedy and proved to be quick witted - he can beat Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the next election.

All Delegates, please reconsider Stéphane Dion as your choice, he’s certainly Canada’s.

A few things

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

These are a few things that don’t deserve their own posts for.

  • The BC Lions have picked up their fifth Grey Cup championship win in their franchise history. I am confident that most Rough Riders’ fans are discontent and outraged over the win due to their team’s defeat 45-18 during the Western final. I only caught the last two minutes of game play of the Grey Cup game, the Montreal Alouettes played a great game even almost getting a touchdown but the Lions made a nice interception and the game was called a victory in their favour. I am proud to be a British Columbian and no do not expect any commentary on sports on this blog (unless the Canucks manage to pull the strings to win the Stanley Cup) or the Houston Astros win the World Series.
  • Henry Kissinger is still alive? Wow! Anyway he says that victory in the U.S. favour in Iraq is impossible. Kissinger also called on the Bush Administration to open dialogue with Iran.
  • Nintendo Wii & the Playstation 3 has hit the shelves. No technical problems have been reported so far, I am pretty sure Bill Gates is kicking himself right now.
  • Vancouver, Burnaby & the North Shore have a boil-water advisory enters into its fifth day after a major storm that left several hundred thousands of people in the Lower Main Land without power, 650 in Lions Bay remain in the dark. Hahaha suckers.
  • Israel has canceled an air strike due to human shields. Oh, and the Deputy Prime Minister called for assassinations against top Hamas & Palestinian Authority Officials. You should have made sure Gurmant Grewal didn’t have that tape recorder.
  • I support Jack Layton’s amendments to the Tories’ Clean Air Act. My new friend, Olaf doesn’t think so. Well, he hasn’t commented on it that I have been aware of.
  • There is another bad storm approaching Vancouver . . . I think Floridians and the Louisianans have cursed us *grumbles*.
  • A Human Rights Group based in New York City and saying his trial was unfair, “Serious administrative, procedural and substantive legal defects”. The Iraqi Government has not extradited him to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, nor would their new found friend in the United States permit it to happening. I do agree with, “In addition, the imposition of the death penalty — an inherently cruel and inhumane punishment”. Where should we depose of him? I mean do with him? Yeah . . .
