Where is the justice in this?

I’m disappointed with the justice system here in Canada after Xiao Zhang pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and failure to stop at scene of an accident on June 27, 2006. Mr. Zhang is responsible for taking the life of New Zealand tourist Dr. David Higgins while walking the sidewalks of the downtown core of Vancouver. Zhang tried to flee the process by running off to Toronto but was unsuccessful.

God, I love it when they catch stupid criminals with their pants down at their ankles. He only eleven months for the dreadful crimes he committed. He should have received five to ten years of prison time since he admitted to the committed crimes instead of facing twenty five to life. The Conservatives haven’t carried through with their campaign commitments to establish a mandatory minimum prison sentence for violent criminals. Though, we could appreciate that Zhang has forfeited his license and vehicle and cannot drive for another two years but I’m pretty sure, if he hit a guy downtown, he’ll do it again. Where is the justice?

Vancouver drivers are bad, and a terrifying amount are hit and run cowards. For me the incident is especially vicious, given the man is an immigrant. Forget jail time, where’s the deportation order?

I agree with you to an extent. I do agree that it’d be a good idea to deport immigrants who have broken the law of the land; however it depends on their nation of origin. Due to our strong stance on the abolition of capital punishment and continuous support of leaving it out of our justice system, I think it’d be wrong to send him to a country where he’d face torture or death. They should be sent to maximum security prisons and locked in solitary detainment for life. That way, the only expenses the government would have to pay for is his bread and water.

‘Refugees’ and ‘Immigrants’ only come to Canada to feed off of our universal health care system like starving algae eaters. Then these ‘refugees’ and ‘immigrants’ return to their nation of origin or another country without paying the bill since they are not covered under the program. We need to start tracking down on these cases and see reforms to protect the Canadian taxpayer.
