Conservatives and their crusades
The Conservative government has gone on a crusade to lower the GST. The Prime Minister has promised Canadians the most competitive taxes on the planet. The economy has become stronger due to the economic backslashes that our friends are suffering in the United States. President Bush has offered no real economic leadership throughout his seven years in office.
He hasn’t even brought forth strongly innovative policies brought forward to the American people. His only objective was to bring the country down after invading a country that had nothing to due with his crusade on terrorism. The Canadian dollar has only become stronger because the Greenback is dwindling.
Ex-Prime Minister Brian Mulroney crippled the national economy and gave its devastating blow. The Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Mexico didn’t generate national wealth; in fact it created additional problematic issues that the Conservative Party was unable to resolve. The only smart thing he did was introduce the Government Sales Tax that the Conservatives continue to place blame on the Liberals for its introduction.
The economy will not suffer immediately from Harper’s cut taxes. The government is losing revenue to pay for programs like healthcare, giving border security agents handguns, and buying large carrier transport aircraft to transport our men and women in our armed forces overseas. Harper is becoming tax cut happy. Just picture him with a price gun, cutting prices in half at Wal Mart.

Uh no. Even the trade unions now concede that free trade has been good for Canada.
As for the rest…pick up an economic text book and read about the Laffer-curve instead of reading Maude Barlow bullshit.

Are you saying the billions of dollars of excess revenue in Ottawa should not be returned to the folks it was confiscated from? A dollar sitting in Ottawa just encourages som politician to give it away . . . a dollar in my pocket enables me to buy a steak, a new car or give it to my favourite charity. This creates an economy and growth . . . cause the dollar travels through many hands.

What movie have you been watching . . . consistent growth in the US since 02 . . 4 and 5% per year, 4.6% unemployment . . . lowest in 30 years . . . Dow Jones topped 14000. When was it better?
Granted things are starting to slow now, but its certainly not because of tax cuts. The US tax cuts stimulated the economy, revenues increased!!!
Was it not John Kennedy who said in 1960 . . . Lower taxes Equal more revenue???
Free trade for the most part has been good for Canada, look at the difference in the cost of most consumer goods. They have dropped steadly since the 80’s.
You seem to not remember the inflation, price controls and massive deficits of the 70’s thanks to the little marxist PET.
Liberals taxed Canadians to death for the last decade . . . many businesses voted with their feet and moved south of the 49th parallel, while police, the military and provincial transfers were cut to the bone by the Chretien regeme.
The economy will never suffer when hardworking Canadians are allowed to keep and spend their own mony as they see fit . . . what destroys economies is big wasteful government running hairbrained programs like childcare, broadcast networks, airlines, and subsidizing failing industries.
