Re: I Support C-484, do you?

I have read the actual bill on the Parliament of Canada. The author of the bill and the House of Commons has forgotten two sections that should have been added to it in the first place, definitions and interpretations of the amendment should have been added for a better overall understanding on the intentions of the legislation.

I don’t believe that the Conservatives are trying to mislead Canadians. The Conservatives will make a horrendous mistake if they try to paint it anti-abortion or they’ll severely suffer the consequences in being pursuant on this issue. However, I disagree that C-484 is a stepping stone moment to abolish abortion laws in Canada. People have to remember that women’s rights should be upheld in any circumstance especially when a mother decides to keep their child or wants to terminate the pregnancy. Most pro-choicers have grossly turned this into an abortion debate when its not.

Then why not a Pregnant Victims of Crime bill? That would recognize the woman’s choice to give birth, and might actually do something to protect that choice, unlike C-484 which does nothing to protect women or deter violence against them.

C-484 does one thing: it recognizes a separate crime against a fetus, which is the first step toward defining the fetus as a “person”. That in turn is the first step toward recriminalizing abortion.

I’ll give you the benefit of a doubt and assume you aren’t familiar with the anti-choice movement and their stealth tactics, of which this is just another in a long series.

Bill c-484 gives the same minimum 10 year penalty to a criminal if the woman attacked is 3 weeks pregnant or if she is 9 months pregnant. The bill does not consider development stages. How is an embryo equal or even close to a nine month old unborn human being?

And I’m not gay and women have no need to worry about reproductive rights. Sweetie darling, get out of the house more. That’s the only way they can maintain a government in this country.
