In Memorium of a Giant

Friday, April 27th, 2007

I just learned sad news that environmentalist, songwriter and singer Robert George Pickett (Bobby “Boris” Pickett) passed away on Wednesday to leukemia. He’s famous for singing and writing the famous Halloween hit song, Monster Mash. In October 2005 he protested against the United States inaction on global warming by releasing Climate Mash. He’ll be greatly missed. He’ll be missed by many.

The Arts in Canada are doomed

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Well known Canadian author Margaret Atwood has come out against the Harper Conservative government over the substantial cuts to the arts. She shown boldness when she told CBC Radio directly that the Conservatives hate those who dedicate their lives to moving our country further ahead to achieve a cultural society. I believe we have become a cultural society; however I believe that the Conservatives’ agenda has changed our path of direction and we are heading backwards due to their gross uncultured understanding.

The Conservatives have constantly proven they are unreasonably ignorant when it comes to preserving and the protection of the Canadian identity as we move closer towards American annexation of our differing and vibrantly positive understandings of how the world turns from the Canadian point-of-view. The ignorance of the Conservative agenda has damaged Canada’s reputation at country and international levels over the course of the past fourteen months under their relatively poor guidance.

Canadians are coming to realize that they made the right decision on January 23, 2006 by giving Prime Minister Stephen Harper a relatively small minority so they couldn’t push to implement their notions of mismanagement and leadership. Canadians have recognized that the Liberals are pushing harder then ever for change in government and will affect the results in the upcoming election.

The Liberals have been a constant ally of Canadian artists, authors, actors and musicians throughout its history as the prime leader in preserving, protecting, enriching and building the cultural society that all Canadians alike (except for the Conservatives) dream for. We’ve recognized that our artists have contributed a lot to the Canadian identity since pre-confederation and we need to award them for their efforts and the Liberals are the only party that has and will continue to do this.

The Liberals have constantly supplied young Canadians the tools and financial support to be successful in the ever so demanding and competitive international markets for literature, music, film and art. The arts are the body, mind and soul of the creativity that has made our country strive and the Conservatives are planning our country’s utter destruction.
