Barry Bond’s 755th homerun

August 4th, 2007

It’s a rare appearance to discuss any level of sports here on The Anth Zone. I thought it’d be a nice thought to congratulate San Francisco Giant’s Left Fielder Barry Bond’s for reaching a career milestone in Major League Baseball with tying Hank Aaron’s 755 career home runs. At, The Anth Zone we will not discriminate against Mr. Bond’s for his illicit drug use. We congratulate you Barry.

The South Korean hostages

August 2nd, 2007

I’m saddened about the ongoing hostage situation in Afghanistan. The Taliban are responsible for the kidnapping of twenty-three South Korean Christian humanitarians.

This week Taliban militants stepped out of the playing field by murdering two of their South Korean hostages. This is gruesome atrocity that has become a rampant nightmare throughout the Middle-East following President George W. Bush’s War on Terror that has caused a global catastrophe.

I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the families of the South Korean aid-workers.

Returned

July 26th, 2007

I have returned from my trip to the Great State of Texas yesterday. I’ll write more about my experiences within the next couple of days.

Anth wants me to write something…

July 19th, 2007

…so I’m writing this. I’m blog-sitting for a little while, to keep the pace at The Anth Zone above that of a giant tortoise.

I know Anth would be thrilled to hear the news of Harper being protested against during his South American tour.

“There’s a shortage of water in the summertime, and it’s only sustained because of the glaciers,” one protester told CBC News. “Because of the destruction of the glaciers, there won’t be water in the short term, there won’t be water for the communities.”

Barrick says the glaciers are melting due to global warming.

So either way, by Harper going to visit Barrick, or here in Canada by denying the existence of global warming he’s painted himself into a corner with the Chilean people.

I apologize for the inactivity on my blog since my last entry, now for something completely different . . .

Thank you

June 20th, 2007

The message below was composed for the Help Anth Go to Texas for IFLRY Conference Facebook Group. This is a republishing authorized by the Help Anth Go to Texas for IFLRY Conference Campaign’s Agent.

Hello my friends,

I would like to thank every single one of you for providing me with overwhelming support in the past several weeks to attend the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) Conference in Dallas, Texas July 17-22 2007.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the following people, all whom have provided significant support: Drew Adamick, Jeremy Ingoldby, Peter Ker, Phil Henri, Adam Miron and Allen Mitchell. I’m very much looking forward to the Conference and bringing the views of the Young Liberals of Canada to the attention of the other IFLRY and YDA Delegates.

Any assistance you could give is greatly appreciated. Whether it be money, Canadian memorabilia (flags, coat pin, etc.), etc.

Your dear friend,

Anthony

You won’t believe who I ran into today

June 14th, 2007

Okay. I started a new job running deliveries for a produce transportation company today. I was on Granville Island, minding my own business. When I spotted out a recognizable figure walking down the street. IT WAS REX MURPHY! I had to confirm is identity by asking him if it was who he was. He said yes he was Rex. And I told him he was my hero (one of them). He had the biggest smile on his face. I had to make his day, because he made mine. Anyway. Later.

Update

June 8th, 2007

I’ve just thought I’d update the worldwide blogosphere on my current status in putting funds together. I would like to start off by thanking my friends in the young Liberals for their tremendous support in this endeavour thank you.

Pledges and monies received combined I have almost made enough money to cover the costs of the delegation fee ($170/184.47). Again thank you. I’d like to thank my friend, Lycrois of Texas for the largest contribution of $30. Thank you.

If you’re interested in supporting me financially on this trip please send me an email at anth @ theanthzone .com (no spaces). Have Facebook? Join the Help Anth Go to Texas for IFLRY Conference! My goal is to raise to or over $1,500 CAD. Anything left over will go to a charity to be decided by the community.

I want to go to Texas - Help Me Pt. II

June 6th, 2007

I really want to make the International Federation of Liberal Youth’s conference in Dallas, Texas this coming July for a couple of good reasons. This is a once in a lifetime experience and a great experience to meet with youth from around the world to talk about politics and strategies to win elections back home in our respectable countries.

The other reason is I’ll get to meet with the U.S. Democratic Presidential Candidates. So please consider donating money to this great cause. I’ve came up with numbers and it’ll cost me nearly a thousand dollars Canadian including travel, accommodation and food expenses. The thousand dollars also covers the 190 Euro delegation fee. I am aiming at making $1500 dollars in case of an emergency, or required to have additional funds if required (if there are hospitality suites that require money for drinks or banquets, et cetera).

Please consider helping me in attending this event and I apologize if I come across as a beggar. I really want to go to this thing. If you’re a business, I’ll market your product for example. I’ll wear a t-shirt or a baseball cap. Stuff like that.

Update: Any money left over will go to charity and not my empty pocket.

I wanna go to Texas - Help me!

June 4th, 2007

I’ve been selected to attend the International Federation of Liberal Youth’s (IFRLY) convention in Dallas, Texas this coming July. I really want to make this trip and require assistance from the blogosphere to attend it. If you’re a business, I’ll wear or use your product when I go down to Texas (has to be legal product in the US).

Please email me at anth @ theanthzone.com (please remove spaces) if you are a business. Anyone who donates to my website from the blogosphere will be featured on my blog. I’ll write a quick blurb about it.

Please email me before making a donation.

Thank you.

Please note that this is not a scam.

The biggest pile yet

May 29th, 2007

I have lurked many ultra-pro-Conservative biased websites and found them to be quite a large piles of bullshit. However to my surprise I was to discover the biggest pile yet (www.notaleader.ca). The Conservatives are prematurely proclaiming themselves to be the champions of Senate Reform on this new website. Like most Conservative pamphlets and other vessels of propagating their heart and mindless agenda (through the Harperbot 3000 or the Young Conservative Drones (YCD) they need to bash the Liberals every time they get).

This website worships the Conservatives’ plan for reforming our Senate. They want to place an eight year cap on the Senators’ service to their Canada. Okay these are patronage appointments, yes. They’re a major function of Canada’s political machine and major part of our democratic traditions and values. The elected Conservative Officials who haven’t done anything for Canada but having Canadians in submission to their oblivious agenda want to reform and take away these great men and women’s work and tear it up. These people have been appointed to these positions on their merit and credentials, not just party loyalty.

The Conservatives want to destroy Canada’s democratic traditions. Want me to name a few? Lieutenant General Roméo Dallaire and the now retired Senator Jack Austin are just some examples. The Conservatives have to look at the appointments that their predecessor Brian Mulroney made. There are a lot of people who he appointed who don’t have merit, don’t have the credentials to serve in Canada’s highest chamber. Yet they did it. The Conservatives have to learn that they can’t take their frustrations out on Canadians – we aren’t your boxing bag.

Cableban Supporter, Fox News Hater

May 20th, 2007

We’ve recently replaced Shaw Cable with Bell’s satellitevision. There is only one downfall with it - it comes with Fox News. I’m quickly randomly pushing in numbers to lock the channel for all of eternity.

In Memorium of a Giant

April 27th, 2007

I just learned sad news that environmentalist, songwriter and singer Robert George Pickett (Bobby “Boris” Pickett) passed away on Wednesday to leukemia. He’s famous for singing and writing the famous Halloween hit song, Monster Mash. In October 2005 he protested against the United States inaction on global warming by releasing Climate Mash. He’ll be greatly missed. He’ll be missed by many.

The Arts in Canada are doomed

April 25th, 2007

Well known Canadian author Margaret Atwood has come out against the Harper Conservative government over the substantial cuts to the arts. She shown boldness when she told CBC Radio directly that the Conservatives hate those who dedicate their lives to moving our country further ahead to achieve a cultural society. I believe we have become a cultural society; however I believe that the Conservatives’ agenda has changed our path of direction and we are heading backwards due to their gross uncultured understanding.

The Conservatives have constantly proven they are unreasonably ignorant when it comes to preserving and the protection of the Canadian identity as we move closer towards American annexation of our differing and vibrantly positive understandings of how the world turns from the Canadian point-of-view. The ignorance of the Conservative agenda has damaged Canada’s reputation at country and international levels over the course of the past fourteen months under their relatively poor guidance.

Canadians are coming to realize that they made the right decision on January 23, 2006 by giving Prime Minister Stephen Harper a relatively small minority so they couldn’t push to implement their notions of mismanagement and leadership. Canadians have recognized that the Liberals are pushing harder then ever for change in government and will affect the results in the upcoming election.

The Liberals have been a constant ally of Canadian artists, authors, actors and musicians throughout its history as the prime leader in preserving, protecting, enriching and building the cultural society that all Canadians alike (except for the Conservatives) dream for. We’ve recognized that our artists have contributed a lot to the Canadian identity since pre-confederation and we need to award them for their efforts and the Liberals are the only party that has and will continue to do this.

The Liberals have constantly supplied young Canadians the tools and financial support to be successful in the ever so demanding and competitive international markets for literature, music, film and art. The arts are the body, mind and soul of the creativity that has made our country strive and the Conservatives are planning our country’s utter destruction.
